The Main House

Our house is organised so that it can be enjoyed by two families with 2/3 bedrooms and a bathroom at each end separated by the grand salon/sitting room.

The main house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The double bedroom, a twin room, bathroom (with shower above the bath) and separate WC are upstairs at one end of the house and on the other side of the sitting room there is a double bedroom and bathroom with WC (shower above the bath) downstairs and a bedroom with three beds upstairs.

We have just converted a downstairs study into an extra twin bedroom with en suite bathroom (walk in shower, basin and WC). The 2 downstairs bedrooms have doors opening directly onto the garden. There is oak parquet flooring upstairs and antique tiled flooring throughout downstairs.

The house has a large well equipped farmhouse kitchen. New units are being installed in March 2014 together with new electric oven, five ring gas hob, and a large fridge freezer. Also included is an additional small fridge, a microwave, magimix, toaster, coffee percolator and dishwasher.

Our spacious living room has a very high ceiling with exposed beams, a magnificent 9ft oak table for meals and games, new sofas and armchairs and a large fireplace for use in the winter months. In the adjoining laundry room there is a clothes washing machine and a tumble dryer. White linen is provided for the new duvets together with towels and bath mats etc.

The equipment that is available includes 2 cots and 4 highchairs. There is a CD player. There are lots of books in the house and a variety of games for children and we also now have wifi internet access.

We are very lucky to have Albert and Annick Guerin, close neighbours, as our caretakers and friends. They do not speak English but have no trouble in understanding what is needed!

We enjoyed cycling to the boulangerie, kayaking in Amboise, the Music Museum in Montoire among other things. LM Sussex
